This new, Men's Mental Health Center, which was founded by Psychotherapist, Dr. Percy Ricketts, is designed to help men keep their mental health intact. According to Dr. Ricketts, while many traditional mental health facilities focus on meeting the needs of women and children, there are very few places in the entire United States that focus on meeting the very unique and specific mental health needs of men. He indicated that historically men are not socialized to seek help, because they feel help-seeking is associated with weakness, being out of control, and not being able to manage their own affairs appropriately.
