Panetta, Israeli Defense Minister Discuss Military Ties

WASHINGTON, Jan. 10, 2013 ? Defense Secretary Leon E. Panetta reaffirmed the strong U.S. commitment to Israel?s security and discussed the military ties between the United States and Israel in a meeting with Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak at the Pentagon yesterday, Pentagon Press Secretary George Little said.
The secretary commended Barak on his tireless efforts in advancing the two nations? strategic relationship, he added, noting that it was the 11th meeting between the defense leaders since Panetta took office.
Panetta and Barak discussed a range of issues, underscoring their mutual interest in ensuring continued cooperation on important regional issues, particularly in Syria, Iran, and Gaza, Little said.?
